Combining the skills of raku firing and silversmithing and inspired by Art Deco and the paintings and sculptures of Cornwall, Amanda Ray's pieces are bisque fired then glazed with silver nitrate and other pigments. Part way through the firing process the work is taken from the kiln and put into a tin containing paper and wood chippings which, from the heat of the jewellery, ignites to create a most beautiful lustrous finish with some areas left to carbonise. The result is a unique range of very special jewellery suitable for any occasion.
