Ceramics
My work is mainly figurative, from full sized down
to a couple of inches tall. At the smaller level I make solid figures
with details modelled roughly, at the larger level the form is coiled
first then modelled.
I use tools as little as possible, preferring to use my hands. To
heighten this effect, I do not use glazes, leaving the surface naked
to show building marks and finger imprints. Although poise and character
of a piece are more important than details, I still try to achieve
a naturalistic result that people can respond to.
