Bob Wilcox

I was born in a coal mining community in the Midlands and attended a Pre Diploma Course at Nuneaton College of Art. My interest in ceramics took me to Stoke on Trent. (Intermediate/NDD). In 1967 I joined the Warwickshire Police and soon became a member of the Murder Incident Room Team. I attended many scenes of murders and completed sketch plans (position of body, murder weapon, etc.).
For the past 30 years I have been a Forensic Artist. When working full time I saw, on average, 150 victims of crime each year. Over 90% of these victims were female. They were victims of sexual offences, rape and robbery. The victims tried to describe to me the offender's face. From these descriptions I completed artist impressions.
I have studied the human face for many years. To further these studies I received two grants from the Home Office Police Research Group and published two papers on facial identity related matters.
